Our Story
Hi! I'm Laura, founder of Mad About Devon and all-round Devon enthusiast. My story begins with a simple love for Devon that has grown into something I never could have imagined.
A DEVON LOVE AFFAIR
From Summer Holidays to Calling Devon Home
My love for Devon began in the 80s during annual family trips down the M5. Those seaside holidays are filled with fond memories of building sandcastles, body boarding, and sandy sandwiches on windswept beaches.
Fast forward to 2009, and I found myself falling for a Devon boy. I made the move from the Midlands in 2010 and little did I know, this decision would change everything.
THE BIRTH OF MAD
Sharing Devon's Hidden Gems
As I explored my new home, I became quite the expert on the best pub lunches, breakfast spots, and beautiful walks across the moor. In 2017, I decided to document and share these experiences on Instagram and the MAD blog.
What started as a personal project quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, MAD has a wonderful following that allows me to support independent businesses by sharing their stories with the MAD community.

Giving back to Devon
I’m delighted to give my support to the wonderful Devon Environment Foundation.
Their fantastic work directs vital funds directly into grass-root, impactful, nature-based projects, to help with their ambition to protect and restore at least 30% of Devon’s land and water by 2030.
With the help of individuals and businesses they support projects leading the way in nature conservation, all with the shared goal to protect and restore Devon’s natural beauty for future generations.
For more information and ways to get involved, you can find more information on the Devon Environment Foundation website.
